Dear APMP colleagues and friends,

As we embark on our journey in 2024, I am delighted to extend my warmest greetings to all members of the Asia Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP). It seems as though it was but yesterday that I extended my initial greetings to you as the new APMP Chairperson, yet here we are a year later, already well into the year 2024. This year is associated with the Wood Dragon, which traditionally symbolizes hope and courage in Korea. I therefore wish every member of APMP success and prosperity like the soaring Azure Dragon.

The past year has been a testament to our collective resilience and dedication to the advancement of metrology in the Asia-Pacific region. We gathered in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in June for the Midyear Meetings and then in Shenzhen, China in November for APMP 2023, where members from across APMP came together for professional networking and valuable engagement. Once again, I would like to thank MASM Mongolia and NIM China for hosting our annual events with wonderful hospitality.

We also reached a milestone at the APMP General Assembly 2023 with the unanimous adoption of the APMP Strategic Plan 2024-2026. Developed through extensive consultation within the community, this plan will serve as a strategic compass to keep us focused on our collective mission of advancing metrology for a better world. As a result of the many fruitful discussions, our members were inspired to organize new collaborations, and several TCI and FGI projects are being initiated. Furthermore, at the last EC meeting, the Executive Committee agreed on a strategic shift to transition APMP's focus from COVID-19 to public health. As such, APMP will encourage and support all activities covering a broader range of public health issues.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the dedicated members of the Executive Committee, Technical Committees, Focus Groups, Developing Economies Committee, Working Groups and the APMP Secretariat for their tireless efforts and commitment to excellence.

I look forward to another rewarding year of meaningful collaboration and impactful results. Let us continue to work together towards a world where metrology enables sustainable development and prosperity for all.

Warm regards,

Dr. Hyun-Min Park,

APMP Chairperson
