Digital Transformation
Introduction
The Focus Group on Digital Transformation (DXFG) was established at the 37th APMP General Assembly, in November 2021. The group has been set up to address the perceived challenges in the APMP region posed by digitalisation of metrology itself and by the application of metrology principles elsewhere in the digital world.
The group’s tasks include:
To acquire the latest information on digital transformation in metrology.
To identify challenges, prioritize tasks, and coordinate digital transformation activities.
To foster awareness, knowledge transfer and stakeholder liaison activities.
To engage with stakeholders, including industry and quality infrastructure (QI) bodies.
To maintain contact and cooperate with other regional metrology organisations, and with the BIPM, in relation to digital transformation.
To foster activities that will benefit developing economies in the APMP.
The DXFG draws its membership from within the APMP and beyond, with representatives from EURAMET, GULMET and COOMET, as well as a partnership with the National Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCSLI) technical committee 141 (Measurement Information Infrastructure – MII).
Since its inception, the group has met regularly to share and discuss information about the latest developments in the field. There are several on-going activities, including studies relating to the development of digital calibration certificates, and, in collaboration with NCSLI-MII, a pilot study looking at digital representation for quantities and units of measurement.
