Greetings from the APMP Chairperson

2024-11-19

Dear APMP colleagues and friends,

As the year draws to a close, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering commitment and cooperation of the APMP community. This year, we faced a number of challenges that affected the world as a whole, including accelerating climate change, economic uncertainty, and rapid technological advances. In this complex landscape, the role of metrology is more important than ever. Accurate measurements and standards are essential to address global challenges, support innovation, and drive progress across various sectors.

Despite these difficulties, we successfully held the APMP 2024 Mid-Year Meetings on Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines, hosted with outstanding hospitality and meticulous organisation by the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI). Their efforts made the meetings not only enjoyable but also highly productive, strengthening our community and enhancing professional networking and collaboration.

We are now preparing for the 40th APMP General Assembly to be held in New Delhi, India from 22 - 29 November 2024. The COVID-19 pandemic initially challenged us to embrace online meetings, but it also opened the door to the hybrid format. This upcoming General Assembly will implement a hybrid format to facilitate broader participation and foster even greater collaboration among our members. One of the key highlights will be the APMP NMI Directors' Workshop, focusing on “Hydrogen Technologies for a Sustainable Future.” This session will provide a valuable opportunity to discuss advances in hydrogen technology and explore strategic approaches for building a sustainable future.

The wisdom we gain every time we turn challenges into opportunities continues to guide the growth of APMP and each of our national metrology institutes. The upcoming General Assembly will serve as an important platform to address current challenges and strengthen cooperation for the advancement of metrology throughout the Asia-Pacific region. It will also be a momentous occasion to reflect on the future direction and development of APMP.

Your continued support and active participation are essential to APMP's success and progress. I look forward to the path ahead as we pursue our shared vision and goals.

Thank you.
