Progress of MEDEA 3.0
Since June, the "Metrology Asia Pacific" webportal has been hosting new content designed to improve the exchange of information. The portal, which was created together with the regional networks Asian Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP) and Asian Pacific Legal Metrology Forum (APLMF), aims to raise awareness of metrology issues and make them more tangible.
The portal and its contents are suitable for all national institutes that want to create more awareness and understanding for the topic of metrology. Since June, ten case studies and nine policy briefs that have been produced as part of the cooperation can be found there: https://metrologyasiapacific.com/
Special thanks go to all the authors and to the trainer Laurie Winkless, who accompanied the creation of the case studies and short dossiers in several training sessions over a period of two years.
The joint training course “APLMF-APMP Training Course on Sphygmomanometers” was organized by APLMF and the MEDEA project in Bangkok, Thailand from 9-11 July 2024. The main subject of this training course was to assist the member economies of APLMF and APMP in developing a common understanding of the current international standards and regulations on automated sphygmomanometers.
Furthermore, a training course on Calibration of Dead Weight Tester (DWT)/Pressure Balance (PB) has taken place at Pathumthani, Thailand (on-site). The DWT pressure training proposed in December 2023 by Ms Shanika Silva MUSSD, Sri Lanka, and implemented in May 2024 together with NIMT, Thailand. Ms Shanika Silva used the project prosal workshop, previously conducted by the project and DEC, to hand in the suggestion for the training. We are very proud and happy to see, that the training was successfully implemented. We would also like to thank NIMT, for supporting the trainings.

For the mid-year meetings in the Philippines (24 – 28 June 2024), the Focus Group Task Force invited to a half-day of workshop. Together, we deepened our knowledge and worked on the topic of Stakeholder Management. Furthermore, the project supported the workshop on project proposal writing. This workshop can be considered part of a bigger process: In the past two years, we put a lot of our effort into promoting and supporting Project Proposal Writing by organizing a respective training as well as elaborating an online video course which has been integrated in the DEC Knowledge Management System (KMS). A third workshop tried to outline a framework for Mentoring in APMP and was organized by the Leadership and Management Task Force. Overall, it was a very successful week, and important results and activities of the project could be presented.

The MEDEA 3.0 project ends in April 2025. For the remaining time the project aims to have a second round of E-learning guidelines, support the Task Forces of APMP and working groups of APLMF, to design three regional guidelines and to find strategies to make the project and its activities sustainable.
