NIM China, NIM Vice Director Dr. Jifeng Qu elected as a New CIPM Member
Dr. Jifeng Qu, Vice Director of NIM, was elected as a new member of the CIPM, with the current term starting from March 20, 2024 and ending by the 28th meeting of the CGPM in 2026. Dr. Qu Jifeng is NIM’s second CIPM member, succeeding Dr. Yuning Duan, the former Vice Director of NIM who has served on the CIPM since 2010 and as CCT President since 2012.
Dr. Qu has a proven record of scientific achievements in his 20 years of research primarily on quantum metrology, with his most notable achievement being the determination of the Boltzmann constant, kB, by the noise thermometer method, which contributed to the CODATA recommended values of fundamental physical constants CODATA 2014 and CODATA 2017 as the only electrical-method-based measurement results, respectively.
