Project description

Energy is the key importance development for every country. Much of the importance of energy saving stems from the global need to save energy - this global need affects energy efficiency, trading, emissions targets and legislation, all of which lead to several compelling reasons why measurement plays important roles to energy efficiency in Asia pacific, for example energy efficiency for green building, electrical and flow measurement for energy security and sustainability.

This open workshop was targeted at NMIs to exchange information including national / industrial needs and schemes of efficiency in energy consumption and generation, new metrological requirements for electrical security, flow of oil & natural gas, and green building,  solutions and plans in responding to focus group plan and direction.

The presentation topics covered by the workshop include; “Green building and measurement challenge” by the user of metrology from the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore and metrology for energy topics from six NMIs and one manufacturer.  The presentations covered measurement for green buildings and materials, EV charging facilities, flow metrology, Solar PV & LED, RF and microwave, the need and impact of energy metrology in Indonesia, Australia and Thailand.

Participants of FGEE workshop 2018 were 41 from 16 NMIs from Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Germany, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. All workshop presentations and summary poster can be founded at  http://www.apmpweb.org/focus/workshop3.php?tc_id=EE

This project increased the awareness of energy efficiency measurements and improved knowledge of regional and national needs to identify capabilities for energy transition. Sharing metrological challenges on energy can leads to research collaborations across NMIs especially DEC. In this workshop, it also explored possible collaborations within APMP in measurement system design and procedure developments on energy related measurements.
