NMC Singapore, NMC Celebrates World Metrology Day 2024: Measuring for a Sustainable Future
The theme for World Metrology Day 2024, “We measure today for a sustainable tomorrow,” highlighted how measurements support global sustainability goals. To commemorate the occasion, the National Metrology Centre (NMC), in partnership with the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), organized a full-day conference on 14th May 2024. The event attracted over 230 participants, including over 100 key stakeholders from industry, government, and academia.
Esteemed speakers from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), TÜV SÜD, the National Environment Agency (NEA), and the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) shared insights on sustainability topics ranging from policy development to global decarbonization technologies and the role of accurate measurements in ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental impact assessments.
The conference was well received, with participants praising its relevance and impact. This year's celebration also marked a significant milestone, being the first to be observed as an official UNESCO International Day, further reinforcing metrology’s contribution to building a better world through science and education.
